2020 Office Christmas Party Alternatives

As the year draws to a close, the usual (or unusual) festivities begin. By this time, you’d usually have RSVP’d with your menu choices, and stressed about what to wear. This December is quite different – in true 2020 style. Although you may not be able to celebrate with a sit-down dinner, drinks and dancing, there are other alternatives that you can treat your team with. After all, the fun has been in short supply throughout what has been for the most part a lonely year, and an excuse for something (virtually) sociable is just what everybody needs.

Here is a handy list of virtual Christmas party ideas, so you can still reward your team for all their hard work over the holidays:

  • An easy option – video call drinks! Fun, just with less stress about your outfit. You could add a quiz or bingo – to bring back some Spring lockdown nostalgia.
  • An online escape room – something different but proven to be popular. There are so many to choose from, so you can easily find the most suitable, most fun or the most challenging one for your team.
  • A virtual talent show. This could be really fun, providing the team are up for it. A good chance to put a smile on everyone’s faces (You may need to add some drinks into this one to get the best out of it)!
  • Online wine tasting or a cocktail class. A lot of bars and restaurants are adapting to new restrictions and finding new ways to operate. There are loads of options out there for this, and they’ll even send the supplies ahead of your virtual event – so you and your team can get the best out of it!
  • A Christmas themed lunch – either over zoom or if you’re still functioning in your workplace, then this could also be delivered to desks. Put on some Christmas tunes, decorate the office – and ta-da… a safely celebrated Christmas.

A Christmas party is a great way to round off the year, give everyone something extra to look forward to, and show your team some added appreciation after the challenges that have been brought this year. Whatever you decide to organise, the 2020 alternative Christmas shindig will be one to remember!
