1. What do you enjoy most about your role at RK Accountancy?
I enjoy the variety that the role provides, our product is people i.e. the candidates we place so it throws allsorts of challenging situations and every day is different. I derive a huge sense of satisfaction from assisting people in their job search and seeing happy candidates I also enjoy working with such an established, supportive team where everyone is always there to help and motivate each other.
2. What attracted you to working for RK Accountancy?
I joined the company in 1998 when RK Accountancy had only one branch, but was encouraged by the ambitions of the Company and its plans to expand. It also seemed to share the same values and way of working that I aspired to.
3. What is your career history?
I began work at Royal Life Insurance in 1990, before moving into a marketing role selling corporate hospitality for ships visiting Liverpool in 1992 - this was a 6 month contract. Following this I secured a role as an Accounts/Payroll Clerk at a multi-site agricultural firm where I remained for a further 2 years. Following this I secured a role with Challenor James, the accountancy arm of Brook Street Bureau, before moving to an accountancy agency as Temps Controller in Liverpool.
I finally landed my role at RK Accountancy, initially to work in the Altrincham office as I had relocated to Sale but I secured a position within RK's 2nd branch to open in Chester and joined on the opening day. I remained within the Chester branch in charge of temps for 18 months. I then secured the role I was looking for with RK Altrincham on the temp desk and have been there ever since.
4. How would you describe the training and support you received when you began your career at RK Accountancy?
Training courses have improved greatly over the time I have been at RK Accountancy, they have proven very useful in helping to refresh my skills and knowledge and reassess how I do my job. The support has always been second to none from the very beginning.
5. Please describe a 'typical' day at RK Accountancy
A typical day involves having a structured plan of who and where to call, usually a big mixture of clients and candidates. The day is very target driven - chasing leads, creating eshots, referencing candidates, making speculative/business development calls and meeting and registering candidates.
6. How would you describe the RK Accountancy culture?
Supportive and forward thinking, structured and well planned with very clear aims and a method that is proven time and time again.
